Official Week 4 NFL Power Rankings

Official Week 4 NFL Power Rankings

1. Kansas City Chiefs (4-0)

Beat New England 26-10

The Chiefs did what the best team in the world is supposed to do with a QB-less team that just went through hell week.  They didn't ever seem to have the engines on full on Monday, bet didn't need to.  Football in 2020. Man.

2. Green Bay Packers (4-0)

Beat Atlanta 30-16

I grew up on stories of Bart Starr, and most of my adult life has been Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre.  And I can tell you I have never seen a Packers QB look this good.  I guarantee even fantasy geeks are looking at the receiving line and saying... who? A beautifully timed bye week now.

3. Buffalo Bills (4-0)

Beat Las Vegas 30-23

Josh Allen is a gunslinger.  I watched this whole game in real time, the first non important Josh Allen game I actually have.  And I could see it... he's got that swagger.  I know it; I'm a cheesehead.  Spent 15 years with Favre.  That kid is in command of a very good football team.  Under the right circumstances, the Bills could challenge the Chiefs.

4. Baltimore Ravens (3-1)

Beat Washington 31-17

Lamar looked more like Lamar this week, but he had a few of those human moments, too.  We should have expected this.  It's how the NFL works.  Something new comes along, and defenses figure out how to stop it.  If the player is more than just talent, they evolve too.  Lamar will evolve.  There will be growing pains, but they'll still win most of their games.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1)

Beat San Diego 38-31

I wasn't one of the Tompa 16-0 guys.  It's a championship team, but it was going to take a while to come together.  They aren't there yet, but they should (at worst) be 6-2 at the half way point, when they'll be hitting stride.  That's terrifying.

6. Seattle Seahawks (4-0)

Beat Miami 31-23

We keep hearing that this isn't really a good Seahawks team.  We saw this week why.  Without Russell Wilson, this team might win 4 games.  Might.  Against a good team Seattle would have gotten smashed today.    If there's one guy who can carry them it's Wilson, but only so far.  Just not good enough everywhere else to be a top tier team.

7. New England Patriots (2-2)

Lost to Kansas City 26-10

I won't bother criticizing the Pats; after that week, that they took the field was a testament.  Still hate Belichick.  Best. Coach. Ever.

10. Los Angeles Rams (3-1)

Beat N.Y. Giants 17-9

It's a good thing it was just the New York High School Giants this week, because the Rams were completely uninspired.  I was genuinely expecting to see some of them napping on the sideline or texting or something.  Side note: Holy sh*t is Cooper Kupp fast.

11. New Orleans Saints (2-2)

Beat Detroit 35-29

People need to get off Drew Brees.  Of course he's not what he use to be.  He's 60 now.  Rodgers and Brady aren't either, although Rodgers may look it at the moment.  But when the best WR in the NFL returns, we won't be having this conversation.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
12. Cleveland Browns (3-1)

Beat Dallas 49-38

So it's the same damn near every year.  The Browns are always some no it all's surprise pick.  And there are always a million reasons it could be true.  And they always find a way to suck.  Now, I realize this was just Dallas.  But... damn.  For most of this game, the Browns just beat the sh*t out of Dallas.  Both RBs would be all pro on any other team.  And OBJ had what... 7 Tds?  They may Cleveland it up at some point, but for now...

13. Indianapolis Colts (3-1)

Beat Chicago 19-11

Point one: I'm still not used to seeing Philip Rivers in that uniform.  It makes my brain hurt.  I just want him to draw the bolt on his helmet in sharpie.  Point two, and a note to the Colts Organization.  As a cheesehead, I watched every play of Jonathan Taylor's career.  He's Marcus Allen good in the red zone.  Learn how to use him.

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
14. San Francisco 49ers (2-2)

Lost to Philadelphia 25-20

The 'Niners were lucky in one aspect after damn near all of their stars got hurt.  With the Giants and Jets back to back, it didn't matter if they sucked.  Apparently Philly is still just good enough that it does.  Miami is next, so if Jimmy G is back, they should be ok.  But the rest of the schedule is brutal.  Back to reality.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
15. Carolina Panthers (2-2)

Beat Arizona 31-21

If you say you saw this one coming, you're a liar.  Teddy B has reminded me since he joined the NFL of Vince Young.  Young was super human in college.  But in the NFL, even at his best, he wasn't.  Teddy was a video game QB in college, but has never stood out in the NFL.  Today he did.  And with no CMC?  He should be the player of the week.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
16. Las Vegas Raiders (2-2)

Lost to Buffalo 30-23

The Raiders still seem to be what they were last year; a team that might be good down the line.  But man.... how old is David Carr?  Wasn't he in the same draft class as Marino and Elway?  I kind of think that's how Gruden's teams will be as long as he's there.  He'll be the NFL's Wolverine Jim Harbaugh.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
17. Dallas Cowboys (1-3)

Lost to Cleveland 49-38

All I can say is that being a Cowboys fan has got to suck.  It was 41-14 at one point.  That's a college score at that point.  Against one of the schools that's something State that isn't actually a state.  The comebacks are fun to watch, but as a fan it seems like it would make it worse.  Only one stat line mattered, and it wasn't Dak's 400 yards and 4 TDs.  It was Zeke.  12 for 54.  Unless they're playing in New York, they won't win with that line.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
18. Los Angeles Chargers (1-3)

Lost to Tampa Bay 38-31

So I just watched Tompa Bay win a game in which Brady threw 5 TDs, and all I want to talk about is the kid who threw the game away in the end.  I knew Justine Herbert was talented, but for most of this game that kid went toe to toe with the goat.  It was genuinely impressive.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
19. Arizona Cardinals (2-2)

Lost to Carolina 31-21

The Kyler Murray bandwagon got quiet quick, didn't it?  And man... he was bad today at times.  Indecisive.   But not all bad, and I still think the Cards will ruin a team or two's season late year.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
20. Cincinnati Bengals (1-2-1)

Beat Jacksonville 33-25

I could gush over how incredible it is that Burrows looks as good as he does, but I'd rather talk about Joe Mixon.  This kid as been a quiet rising star, but no one noticed because the Bengals were garbage.  Burrows is great, but my favorite part of him is than he's got the world looking at the most under rated RB in the NFL.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
21. Chicago Bears (3-1)

Lost to Indianapolis 19-11

That Nick Foles fairy tale was nice, wasn't it?  For like 45 minutes.  Now back to the Bears we all know and laugh at, or as we call them around here,  our two extra bye weeks.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
22. Minnesota Vikings (1-3)

Beat Houston 31-23

Cousins was solid against a lower tier team, but he usually is.  Dalvin Cook, though, is a monster.  Every week you realize just important Stephon Diggs was.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
     23. Detroit Lions (1-3)

Lost to Saints 35-29

It's hard to even know what to say about the Lions.  Other than see my comments on Dallas Cowboys.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
24. Miami Dolphins (1-3)

Lost to Seattle 31-23

Miami is another team it's hard not to root for.  It's almost inspiring watching a bad football team try so hard.  They're not New York bad, though.  And as long as they're competitive, no one panics and throws Tua in the fire too early.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
25. Atlanta Falcons (0-4)

Lost to Green Bay 30-16

Another team that can be hard to watch; like a memory of what they used to be.  You look at them and wonder how they're 0-3 coming in and for most of the game it was... "Oh.  OK."

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

26. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3)

Lost to Cincinnati 33-25

Isn't this supposed to be a rebuilding team?   I mean, don't get me wrong.  Other than Minshew, they're garbage.  Although James Robinson was definitely on some beast mode sh*t today.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
27. Washington Football Team (1-3)

Lost to Baltimore 31-17

People need to pay attention to Dwayne Haskins.  He won't suck for very long.  Hell, he didn't look bad at all today.  I saw most of what he did at Ohio State, and the guy was a machine.  Problem is that Buckeye team had more talent than this one does.  Like it's not even close.  But he's figuring it out.  He'll be Lamar in two years.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
28. Philadelphia Eagles (1-2-1)

Beat San Francisco 25-20

That was what's known as a "win", Iggles fans.  You'll see a few more with the G-Boys still up twice, but enjoy this just the same.  There won't be many more.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
29. Houston Texans (0-4)

Lost to Minnesota 31-23

DeShaun Watson is doing the best he can without having a whole lot to work with.  That one off season move they made... man.  I won't mention it.  0-4 is bad enough.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
30. Denver Broncos (1-3)

Beat New York Jets 37-28

There isn't much to say here; two broken and bad teams played a surprisingly entertaining game.  There are good things to talk about, but in a season where this may be the only game they win, who cares?

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
31. New York Giants (0-4)

Lost to L.A. Rams 17-9

OK, by the time this one ended I was really rooting for Daniel Jones.  He has no receivers open.  Ever.  His #1 option is Golden Tate, and what is he, 50?  And that line... it's like the old wrestling shows where the star would wrestle some fat guy named Bob from Sheboygan. But somehow there he was at the end, still fighting. If he survives rebuilding, he'll be a good one.

Next:

🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
32. New York Jets (0-4)

Lost to Denver 37-28

I think Sam Darnold actually plays better when he's running for his life than when he's protected.  Hard to tell; I think they actually protected him all of 3 times.
