The Magic of Sports - How it brings us together

The News rends to be bad.  We're embroiled in a political civil war here at home.  It seems like every other day some lunatic shoots something up.  Somewhere in the world some country is always hell bent on blowing up another.   Here in America, we find solace and escape in sports.  It's a common love, a past time that brings us all together.  And even in sports the evil of the world sometimes creeps in.  But there are also times it acts as the opposite.  And thanks to the miracle of Youtube; maybe the most under appreciated technological development of our lives.... they're all right there at the push of a button for us to see.  Here are some of our favorites;  comment, tell us what you thought, even leave a link of your own and we can add it.

This might be the best sports moment on Youtube.  The roar when the soldier says he wishes he could be there to watch the Gamecocks beat the 'Noles was thunderous.  But the end... deafening.  Just an incredible moment.  For one brief time... there were no FSU or South Carolina fans; just moms and dads and kids... and Americans.

I know it's a bit cliche when you've seen a bunch of these, but this is one of the first, and in my opinion, the best.  And the best part... the kid recovered.  He played for his junior high school's football team this year.

This one was better than a movie.  Rudy level stuff.

I remember watching this live.  Absolutely one of the most inspirational speeches I've ever witnessed.

If this kid doesn't melt your heart then you don't have one.
I'm a cheesehead myself, so this is a night I remember well.  And a remainder why Brett Favre is among the most loved athletes of all time.  Raiders fans back then were brutal, and hated everybody.  The love they showed him that night kind of sums up the whole point of this.
